Myra Mier School of Ballet
The Myra Mier School of Ballet is celebrating its 36th year. The
school is directed by Myra Mier and is dedicated to the study
of classical ballet. Students are trained in the Vaganova (Russian)
Method that produces dancers with a strong technique and style.
The Myra Mier School of Ballet is the official school of the
Jefferson Ballet Theatre.
Myra Mier, Director
Myra Mier began her training in Havana, Cuba under the inspiration
of legendary ballerina Alicia Alonso. Ms. Mier studied at the Cuban
National School of Ballet, Gayle Parmelee Ballet in New Orleans
and the American Ballet Theatre in New York City. She completed
her five year pedagogy course on the Vaganova Method with John
Barker, Jurgen Schneider and Bella Kovarskaya.
Ms Mier has received a number of awards for her work and is recognized
as an important member of the artistic community.
